District 3 Match Up For November
Lloyd Bailey and County Commissioner Paula Delaney
The League of Women Voters made an exception this Saturday, for the District 3 candidates for the Alachua County Commission. They were not going to be able to get together fo the October forum that was scheduled, so they let Lloyd Bailey and his General Election opponent Paula Delaney, have their forum prior to the August 26th election. They will not be on the ballot until November, but we got to hear them now.
Paula Delaney is a former Gainesville City Commissioner and Mayor who is finishing her first term on the County Commission. She was a Republican back in her time on the city government, but switched parties in 2004 to run for the county wide office.
Lloyd Bailey is a long time Libertarian who ran for the County Commission in 2000 and in 2004, losing to Rodney Long and Cynthia Chestnut respectively. This time he has switched parties to Republican.
This was not the kind of pitched battle that we have seen in the Sheriff’s race and in the District 1 race. The audio recording can be listened to here in mp3 format. It is 31:33 long.
