Brian Bunch for Alachua Soil and Water Conservation District Seat 4
My name is Brian Bunch, and I am Running for Alachua Soil and Water Conservation District Seat 4. I would like to tell you about my self a little bit.
I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, in 1984, moved to Gainesville in 2002 to attend Santa Fe College. In December 2010 I will graduate with my Associates Degree in Business Management and will hold ten Vocational Certificates, all in business related fields.
I come from a family of small business owners. Both of my parents, a brother-in-law, and several other family members own a variety of small business in South Florida and New York. I started my own business in 2005 developing websites and graphic design services for other small businesses. In 2009,I started to branch into web and graphic design work for political campaigns, this new arena helped peak and develop my interest in the political process.
At Santa Fe College, I was involved in several student organizations and Student Government. Founded the Santa Fe College chapter of Phi Beta Lambda-Future Business Leaders of America, and served in several state and national leadership roles within that organization.
Reasons I am running:
- I feels that soil and water conservation is vital to improving local government;
- The community will benefit from his business experience and mentality, and;
- A new voice will be able to change the business as usual attitude within local government.

I would like to point out that today, 10/27, the platform still has not been posted and it was supposed to be put up “mid week” according to this post, dated 10/16. His opponent, Bryan Griffin, on the other hand, has a very detailed website, providing the history of the position and his intentions if he is elected. With the election so close, I would not feel comfortable voting for someone who doesn’t have his platform nailed down and available for review.
1I conducted research on Brian Bunch and Bryan Griffin today in an effort to find more information about each candidate running for the Soil and Water Conservation District 4 seat. After this exercise, I have decided to vote for BRYAN GRIFFIN.
2There are several typos and grammatical errors in Brian Bunch’s text above, which immediately detracted from the message he may have tried to convey. I can only assume Brian Bunch wrote the text, or at least reviewed it before it was posted. Brian Bunch may be very intelligent, but you sure can’t tell based on this written text. Communication in all forms is very important in life, and especially in a public office. And, as Nicole states above, Brian Bunch has not posted a platform.
BRYAN GRIFFIN understands the duties of the Alachua County Soil and Water Conservation District, Seat 4, and has established focus areas and ideas (has a platform). Just check out his website: http://www.griffinticket.com/. Vote for Bryan Griffin!
I don’t know either candidate, so I had to make my decision based on what they posted online. The other candidate, Bryan Griffin, comes across as articulate and focused in his writing, plus he has been attending Soil and Conservation meetings regularly. It is not clear from the post above if Bunch has been the attending meetings or not, therefore I voted for GRIFFIN in the early voting period. I am aware of the mistake that Griffin made in his Alligator column, and have decided to overlook it because he has taken responsibility for it, and I hope he has learned his lesson.
